Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Pengertian Past Perfect Continuous Tense.

Past Perfect Continuous tense adalah tense yang menunjukkan pekerjaan yang telah terjadi pada suatu waktu dan masih berlangsung di waktu berikutnya pada masa lampau. Pemahaman lebih mudahnya adalah bahwa past perfect continuous sama persis dengan present perfect continuous tense hanya saja waktu terjadinya pada masa lampau.

B. Rumus Past Perfect Continuous Tense.

C. Fungsi Past Perfect Continuous Tense.

1.      Untuk menunjukkan sebuah pekerjaan yang sedang terjadi dalam jeda waktu yang spesifik pada masa lalu sebelum pekerjaan lain terjadi.

Contoh: How long had you been driving this car before I took over?

(sudah berapa lama kamu menyetir mobil ini sebelum aku menggantikan?)

2.      Sebagai sebab atas suatu keadaan pada masa lampau.

Contoh: My wife became so fat because she had been overeating.

(Isteriku jadi gendut karena terlalu banyak makan).

E. Contoh Kalimat Past Perfect Continuous Tense.

1.      She had been waiting for you for 1 hours when you took a bath yesterday morning.

(Dia telah menunggumu selama 1 jam ketika kamu mandi kemarin pagi).

2.      My mother had been toting me since I was born till I could stand on my own feet.

(Ibuku telah menggendongku sejak aku lahir sampai aku bisa berdiri sendiri).

3.      How long had my baby been crying since I went to shop.

(Sudah berapa lama anakku menangis sejak aku pergi belanja).
